I Heart These . . .

In the wake of Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d share some love – movie love that this. My husband and I love watching movies and quoting movies. We even had a tradition going to watch Out of Africa every year, though that sort of fizzled out – why that movie, I don’t really know, especially since it’s very sad and long.

But here’s Five Movies I Love to Watch Again and Again.

1. Dan in Real Life

2. Confessions of a Shopaholic

3. Persuasion

4. North and South

5. The Bourne Identity (see, they aren’t all romance movies!)

What movie(s) could you watch over and over? What’s your favorite type of movie?

  1. My girls and I love Out of Africa! It's been some time since we've sat and watched it.

My hubby is good – he can sit through Pride and Prejudice, Somewhere in Time, Sense and Sensibility, and I love Persuasion.

  2. Oooh, The Bourne Identity is great! And it does have a very romantic slant to it.

Hubs and I watch Bad Boys over and over. Last of the Mohicans is my fave movie. I watch it about once a year. 🙂 I also love French Kiss!

  3. I had a home in Africa…

I say that a lot but it never makes sense. I just like saying it like Meryl Streep! LOL

Okay, so…I could watch JAWS over and over. I don't know. Also, Emma with Gwyneth Paltrow (and Shakespeare in love) and The Princess Bride.

  4. Loree – My hubby's seen all of those too. But I insist he be quiet during the kissing moments or he'll make comments. 🙂

Jessica – I haven't seen French Kiss in years – might have to watch that one again.

Jess – I was so going to put that line in my post, but you're right, you have to hear it Meryl Streep's voice or it just isn't as effective. 🙂

Julie – Is that Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth? Sigh. 🙂 That one's my favorite, though I feel like I have to have lots of time carved out to watch it because it so long.

  5. You have EXCELLENT taste. I LOVE Persuasion (especially that adaptation) and I LOVE LOVE LOVE North and South. Mr Thornton? Yes PLEASE! Wow, that was a lot of caps in a comment 🙂

  6. I love She's the Man. Hilarious. My hubby and I watch 50 First Dates every Valentine's Day. Such a cute movie. X-Men is a big favorite. Lord of the Rings. Pride and Prejudice. We like to mix it up a bit. 😉

  7. Angela – Mr. Thornton is a such a fabulous, brooding yet tenderhearted hero!

Leigh – On a snowy day like today, I'm with you on the whole stay inside and watch a movie thing. 🙂

Chantele – Love the electic choices. I haven't seen She's the Man in so long. But I love romantic comedies.

Wendy – One of my favorite lines from Dan in Real Life is "you are a murderer of love!"

Sarah – I liked the book too. Very different from the movie, but it was fun to see how they adapted it.

  8. Laurie – I haven't read the book North and South, but I love the movie. And I like that version of Jane Eyre too, though I thought the adaptation from last year was good too.

Stina – I love Emma too! I like the Gwyneth Paltrow version and the newest masterpiece theater one.

  9. It's always fun to see what other movies people enjoy. Dan in Real Life — I need to watch that again soon! Confessions of a Shopaholic — need to watch it for the first time.
    Some favorites of mine:
What's Up Doc (an oldie & always a goodie); While You Were Sleepy (a classic romance); Speed (same leading lady but completely different genre!)

  10. Sorry I'm responding a day late, but I loooove your movie list. I really think Dan in Real Life is the best movie I've seen in the past five or six years. It celebrates family wackiness, and I love that. I'm also a massively huge bbc period drama fan, so seeing North and South on your list made my day. Oh, and Persuasion too!

  11. Beth – While You Were Sleeping was my and my best friend's favorite movie in high school!

Melissa – I love all the family drama and miscommunication that causes such great conflict in Dan in Real Life. Plus who wouldn't want to vacation at that house! 🙂
